While the facade and the interior look identical to most of the Jimmy Johns built from 2010 to 2013 the employees here make the experience unique. As we walked in there were multiple employees who acknowledged us either verbally or with eye contact and a smile. Then the order taker asked if we'd been there before and when we ordered a sandwich he confirmed each ingredient to ensure we'd get exactly what we wanted. After hundreds of JJ visits across the US I've never had such an enthusiastic and friendly employee. And the sandwich makers were friendly too and those people rarely talk to customers. The sandwiches were great and when I asked for extra lettuce I got plenty. Cold meat and cheese on warm bread. Good stuff. While we were eating the customer flow slower and multiple employees got to work. Sweeping the floor, dusting the pictures and menus, and cleaning the nozzles on the Coke fountain dispenser. Most stores would just stand around and wait for the neext customer to wander in. I hope when I'm back in Rapid City I get to head back to one of the best Jimmy Johns I've ever been to.

Service was fast, and there were several "hellos" when I entered, as I usually hear. I frequent Jimmy John's, but I will not be back to this one. My sandwich was average compared to the other Jimmy John's I go to. My cookie tasted stale. I approached one of the male employees (no name tags) and tried to explain that the cookie didn't taste fresh, but his "Gourmet Sandwich Maker" title was apparently the reason why I couldn't possibly be right. He was arrogant. I couldn't finish explaining when he interrupted and said "it's impossible for the cookie to be stale, we just took them out of the freezer this morning and we switch them out twice a day". Well twice a day is hard to believe, but regardless the cookie tasted stale and I guess my opinion meant nothing in his expert mindset. Shortly afterwards, I saw him explain to the supervisor what had happened. The sup didn't bother trying to correct the situation either. For this young man I will add, arrogance is a career killer. Sure, JJ is unlikely his career path, but he needs to learn before he tries moving on. This is how arrogance will hurt your career- You will be so convinced that you are right, you will dismiss the opinions and suggestions of others. You will cut people off and push your solution. Even if you end up being right, repeatedly cutting off others is disrespectful and says, "I know best, so don't even bother telling me what you think." Over time, people around you will be quiet. I was never offered another cookie, a refund or even an apology. Mediocre food and arrogant employees will keep me away from this Jimmy John's and this is why they end up with only two stars.
